Job description

AIP is looking for a Full-Time Custody Officer to work in Guantanamo Bay, CU.

The Custody Officer (CO) is responsible to ensure the safety and security of migrants housed at the ICE Migrant Operations Center at the Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (NSGB).

COs act in accordance with the highest ethical standards always and ensure a spirit of fairness and integrity in the on-going execution of their duties.

COs for the MOC are assigned to unarmed posts inside the MOC, the MOC perimeter, and escort of migrants outside of the MOC.

COs are directly responsible for the supervision, safety, and security of migrants in ICE custody at the MOC.

**Responsibilities**

+ Conducts security and sanitation checks of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer and throughout the shift.
+ Inventories all equipment and notates the results in the logbook.
+ Receives all authorized equipment and ensures that it is in proper working condition.
+ Ensures that communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
+ Performs duties related to the custody, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of migrants as required in the contract.
+ Exercises surveillance and control over migrants and maintains order and discipline.
+ Attends to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of migrants, 24 hours a day.
+ Makes official entries in the assigned post logbooks that are accurate, legible and complete.
+ Enforces rules and regulations of the MOC and the NSGB.
+ Provides care, custody, and control of detainees.
+ Escorts unprotected migrants using proper security measures with blackout goggles and in vehicles with black out windows for overall facility security and to ensure inability to identify protected migrants.
+ Supervises migrants while receiving medical care and during other duties as assigned.
+ Arrives on time for assigned shifts wearing full issued uniform and in compliance with dress code.
+ Follows all company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in company safety policies.
+ Successfully completes all assigned training.
+ Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with all ICE, Department of Justice (DOJ), NSGB, and company policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**

+ Must be able to meet all health requirements.
+ Must be a citizen of the United States.
+ Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record or poor credit history).
+ Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
+ Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
+ Pass a medical examination and meet health requirement.
+ At least 21 years of age.
+ Possess a valid state driver's license.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a state security guard license.
+ Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the general public.
+ Read, write, speak fluent English.
+ Proficient at observation, memory of events, and ability to recall events to document in written reports.
+ Capable of following, interpreting, and understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reports.
+ Ability to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities.
+ Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations.
+ Maintain a professional personal appearance, calm demeanor, and discretion with confidential information.
+ Possess a high degree of integrity, accountability.
+ Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective.
+ Maintain current/physical residency at the NSGB, Cuba.

**Physical Capability:**

This position requires the candidate to pass a pre-employment physical, maintain physical fitness standards as determined by a licensed physician and documented on the SF-88 Medical form.

Candidates also must be willing and capable of the following physical requirements:

+ Ability to walk through all areas of the facility for tours of duty in varied (sometimes extreme) weather conditions.
+ Ability to stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations, including jogging and fast walking to incidents.
+ Ability to work without restrictions and limitations.
+ Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally.
+ Must be able to push a wheelchair bound individual weighing up to 300 pounds and helping individual in and out of chair.
+ Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, and climb stairs, ladders and slopes periodically
+ Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement related position throughout your employment under this contract.
+ Must be capable of performing CPR using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when necessary and rendering assistance until medical personnel arrive.
+ Pass a Tuberculosis skin test annually.
+ Pass pre-employment and random drug screening.
